About
Connie Treves is a director, dramaturg and movement director who grew up in Dorset and is now based in London.
She is an associate artist with award-winning Good Chance theatre (The Jungle, Walk with Amal) where she works with the artistic leadership team as a director, dramaturg and facilitator. Between 2019-2020 was the Resident Assistant Director at Sheffield Theatres. As a director and assistant director, she has worked with venues including the National Theatre, the Almeida, the Globe, the National Theatre of Scotland and the Citizens Theatre.
Her 2017 adaptation of The Enchanted by award-winning novelist Rene Denfeld, transferred from the Edinburgh Fringe Festival to the Bunker Theatre, London. A story about the criminal justice system in the US, the production combined dance, theatre and puppetry.
Connie is also a facilitator, and in 2018 she was the Resident Director in Good Chance’s dome in Paris, where she directed weekly shows with international theatre-makers and local communities. Since 2019, she has been artistic director of Change the Word - a creative writing and performance collective - who have performed in cities from Coventry to Bradford. As a director with young people, she has worked with Compass Collective and is an associate director for EMERGE(ncy) Party.
She currently holds a DYCP grant to focus on adapting novels for the stage and re-imagining classics.
